JESUS THE AUTHOR OF LIFE

                Do you have life? Yes, if you have life then have you asked yourself the origin of the life you have? If you haven’t known it, I want to tell you that Jesus is the author of life. The book John 1:1-3 tells us that “In the beginning was the word the Word was be God and the Word was God…through him all things were made and nothing was made without him”. It says through him all things were made it means that even you were made through him. It is through him and by him that you came into being and without him you do not exist. Let’s look at another verse of the bible Hebrews 12:2 “Look unto Jesus the author and finisher of you faith (life)”. Jesus is the author and finisher of your life he is the one through whom you have the life that you have today and your life can only be complete in Jesus.

            Now many of us have life but our lives are incomplete. They are incomplete because they lack somebody they lack the giver of life. At this point, I want us to look at life at two perspectives. The life that we have and the life that Jesus gives.

1. The life we have. In other words life without Jesus. Life without Jesus is just like a tree planted on dry land. The life that we have has no meaning on its own. It is not full its is very short and has no continuation. The life that we have is only temporal and short and that is why all those who life their life in enjoyment without Jesus do not see it pass and they only realise it when time has caught them. Many are they who on their dying bed weep with bitter tears at seeing all the time they spent doing things that have no future. Many people say they want to enjoy their youth age but what is the outcome of the enjoyment, what does the future hold for such people; why would you want to spend a life which is relatively short in doing things which will not help you? Have you ever wondered the next step after this life?

            Now thing over this example; a bulb is very beautiful when it shines. But the question I want you to ask yourself is this; what is a bulb without an electric cable and that what is an electric cable with the current? This is what I want you to think about if the electric cable does not supply the bulb with the current then, the bulb cannot produced the desire light. So to is our life and our body. If I may ask you where does your life get it supply? On what does it depend? If you do not have an answer to this question then know that you life is incomplete. Then I think it is time you start looking for a good answer.

2. the life that Jesus gives. I want you to look and meditate on this chapter JOHN 10:10” I came that you may have life and have it to the fullest”. This simply means that the life that we have is not complete that is why he came that we may have life and have it to the full. It is only if you have Jesus that your life becomes complete. This brings me to ACTS 4:12. it is only through Jesus that salvation can be found and nobody else.  I insist on the fact that only through Jesus can you have abundant life.

Many people do many terrible things to have life or to feel alive but I want to let you know that all what you do can not give you life it is only Jesus that can give you life. The thirst you feel inside and the emptiness you feel inside can only be filled by Jesus. Many people have long to fill their emptiness and have given in to drunkenness and smoking, others have given in to immorality but all to no avail. Let me give you a little testimony… I lastly prayed for one young boy who for long has been a rascal and a member of a gang. He was inside and was one of the most dangerous members in the gang. When I prayed for him after a retreat that he wilfully came to attend, he decided to tell me the story of his life and in the course I asked him what pushed him to join the gang and he told me it was all because of the emptiness he was feeling inside. He said that he had a great desire in him but he did not know what it was all about so he thought he could satisfy it be going around with those friends of his. But the more he all he did with them, the more the desire grew even more stronger. Until the point where he came to the retreat and then heard the word of God and then he realised that only God co2uld fill this emptiness.

This is also the case of many youths and many people. My advise to you all is that you cannot do without Jesus and that only him alone can fill you life and give you the fullness you need and only in him can you have life because in all, HE IS THE AUTHOR OF LIFE. Come to Jesus and be satisfied.

If you want to live come to Jesus

If you want to have long life come to Jesus

If you want to enjoy life come to Jesus

If you want to have everlasting life come to Jesus

I want to conclude by quoting John 14:6 “I am the way the truth and life no one goes to the father except through me"
